Fast Company Experts has some guidelines for doing PowerPoint presentations.
Limit the number of slides
Limit the information on each slide
Make sure the slide is readable
Use message titles
Use animation/bells and whistles as little sparingly
Automate effects as much as possible
Make liberal use of the "B" key - it blanks the screen then lights it up again
Do not use a laser pointer
